Mia is a beautiful red female, very smart and very persistent at getting what she wants when she wants it. She was born at Adlercrest Dobermans in Riverside, California, one of a litter of seven (3 black males, 2 red males and 2 red females) by Armin and Coco.

She loves to play in the water, either with the hose or jumping around in her plasic pool in the backyard. She also loves the snow in winter, diving into it head first and coming up with a snow-capped snout. Her favorite game is fetching the tennis ball. No matter what time of year she has to play every day and is relentless in getting her way. She also loves her obedience training and anything else that challenges her mind. She has learned much faster than I, a first-time handler. To date we have only competed in an ASCA sub-novice meet where she took first place. Within the next couple of months we will be ready to begin competing on a higher level.

The day we arrived to pick Mia up from the breeder, Linda was giving her a bath. I had heard a lot about Armin and seen pictures of him. I had in my mind a majestic protection dog and was very surprised when, after I sat down on the couch, he jumped up next to me, put his front paws on my lap and began licking my face. When we started the long drive back to Utah Mia was a little nervous, but soon settled down and, being as small as she was, spent most of the trip sleeping on my chest. From that she developed a love for being picked up and held in my arms, a practice she insists upon even now.

Mia has the most expressive face of any dog I have ever known. She can communicate anything to you just by insisting that you look into her eyes and "listen" to what she is telling you. She barks very little, but expresses herself in other ways. She is happy all the time and appears to smile whenever you look at her. She lives with Baron, her canine 'brother' and three cats. She loves Baron immensely and they enjoy doing everything together. She also has a very mischievous side that is easy to see in her eyes, usually just before she does something she knows she's not supposed to do; like pouncing on Baron or charging you while she is playing with the ball. I have even, on occasion, found some of the cats' fur on her lips. She will give me a look as if to say, "What, how did that get there?"

Mia will be bred in September or October, 2005 to Ulan vom Adlercrest, who should balance her temperament and conformation perfectly. If you have any questions about Mia you can contact her human, Richard Starley.
